Hypnotic Techniques 2

Thought I would share another hypnotic piece, building on the magnetic fingers from last week. This week is ‘Magnetic Hands’. Although the movement appears very similar to magnetic fingers it differs in a couple of ways.

First of all, it’s a much bigger movement. Whereas the magnetic fingers is a tiny shift, the hands coming together feels more startling, because of the larger scale.

Secondly, I often lead magnetic hands with the eyes shut. Although watching the hand movement can create a strange sensation for people, the power in keeping them closed is the element of surprise. With the eyes shut, people are often barely aware of the movement in the hands until they feel them touching, at which point there is a certain release and amazement.

Lastly, magnetic fingers takes advantage of our natural physiology. The fingers are more relaxed together than apart. It takes effort to hold them apart, and no effort to let them come together. In some respects magnetic fingers is a good check for resistance (whether conscious or unconscious) because it takes a strong act of will to keep them apart.

By contrast, there is no reason a person’s arms should be drawn together. The weight of the arms might cause a person to tire and want to bring the hands down, but not together. As such it’s a stronger demonstration of the ideomotor response: unconscious movements brought about purely through suggestion and imagination.

Anyway, you can enjoy a brief video and try it for yourself.

That then, is magnetic hands. I hope you were able to experience it and enjoy the experience. I’ll be back soon I’m sure. Until next time.
