Hypnotic Techniques 3

One more classic piece of hypnosis for you – this time the light and heavy hands.

This one is possibly less widely used than magnetic fingers/magnetic palms, although I couldn’t tell you why really. It demonstrates the same principle of ideomotor movement, through quite a visual piece of imagination.

I actually think I might have played with something like this in school. Certainly there were various autosuggestion games I played in childhood and this feels similar, if not the same.

Perhaps it’s the schoolyard quality that means it is less widely applied, or maybe it’s just a preferential thing. Regardless, it still provides an effective demonstration of both the power of the mind and the imagination. Check out the video below

I think this probably brings me to the end of the really short-form hypnotic techniques that are easy to demonstrate without a volunteer and in under two minutes. So I will likely be looking at something else in the near future – whether that’s treatment protocols or research papers. Watch this space!
