1. Does Hypnosis really work?
Yes! Hypnosis is an evidence-based therapy technique that has been proven to be effective for a wide variety of issues, and many people achieve rapid, lasting results. Although the outcomes people achieve using hypnosis can seem magical, it is important to know that it isn’t a cure for everything, and depending on what you are seeking hypnosis for, I may require a go-ahead from your doctor before we can begin our sessions.
2. What can you use hypnosis for?
Many things! People see hypnotists and hypnotherapists for a large range of issues. Typically these fall into two broad categories: Things to get rid of, or things to improve. So bad habits, anxieties and other emotional problems might be things to get rid of, and better sporting/academic performance, motivation and focus might be things to enhance and improve. Hypnosis can also be used to help with chronic pain and other health issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
3. How do hypnotherapy sessions work?
Sessions usually consist of three parts. The first part is a conversation where I will get to know you and the issue you would like to change or resolve. Next, I will spend some time guiding you into a relaxed state, which we call hypnosis. Once this is achieved, you will be given ideas and suggestions to process at an unconscious level to affect the desired change. The whole process is designed to help you manage and overcome your specific challenges effectively and rapidly.
4. How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed varies depending on individual circumstances and goals. During our initial consultation, we will discuss your specific needs and create a plan tailored to you. Most people require between 1-4 sessions.
5. Can I claim hypnotherapy on my health insurance?
Yes! As a member of the Australian Hypnotherapists Association (AHA) I am able to provide you with a number so that you may submit a claim to your insurer. This is one of the key benefits of seeing a therapist with the level of expertise and training required to be a member of the AHA. Any amount (if any) reimbursed will be determined by your insurance provider and your level of cover.
6. Where are you located?
My office is located in Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. Alternatively if you’d like a virtual session, then I’m located inside your computer for added convenience!
7. Why a chameleon?

Chameleons make a perfect metaphor for the hypnotic process. Contrary to popular belief they don’t change colour to blend in with their surroundings, but rather, based on their mood. Just like the chameleon, we can change ourselves by changing our thoughts and feelings. Also, I did a project on chameleons in primary school and I’ve loved them ever since!
8. Will you make me cluck like a chicken?
Not if you don’t want to.
More seriously, hypnosis is not about my will over-riding yours. Hypnosis is a collaborative act of imagination. It is a journey we undertake together. And importantly, no one can make you do something in hypnosis that goes against your morals and ethics.
