Insomnia and sleep issues

When sleep becomes a struggle, everything else can feel harder. You lie in bed, tired but wired, watching the clock tick, and knowing tomorrow will be even worse. Over time, insomnia can wear down your body, your mood, and your sense of control.

At Chameleon Hypnosis, I help people move beyond the nightly battle with sleep. Hypnotherapy offers a gentle, proven way to calm the mind, reset your internal rhythms, and rebuild a healthy, natural relationship with sleep.

The Many Faces of Insomnia

Sleep problems can show up in different ways:

  • Trouble falling asleep
  • Waking in the night and not being able to return to sleep
  • Early morning waking
  • Light, restless, or unrefreshing sleep
  • Anxiety or dread about going to bed
  • Overthinking or racing thoughts at night
  • Dependence on medication or alcohol to sleep

Whether your sleep issues are new or lifelong, hypnotherapy can help address both the physical and emotional layers of insomnia.

Why Hypnotherapy Works for Sleep

Sleep is not something we do – it’s something we allow. But when we’ve struggled for a while, the unconscious mind can start to associate bedtime with tension, worry, or failure. Hypnotherapy helps by:

  • Calming the overactive mind and nervous system
  • Rebuilding positive associations with bedtime
  • Releasing anxious or intrusive thoughts
  • Resetting your internal body clock
  • Encouraging deeper, more restorative sleep
  • Supporting routines that promote lasting rest

Hypnosis guides your brain into a state similar to the transition into sleep, making it a natural and powerful tool for overcoming insomnia.

Personalised Support for Lasting Change

At Chameleon Hypnosis, I combine clinical hypnotherapy with counselling, psychotherapy, and cognitive strategies. This holistic approach helps you address the thoughts, behaviours, and emotional patterns that contribute to poor sleep.

You’ll learn how to relax, how to shift your internal sleep “scripts,” and how to trust your body again.

How long does it take?

I normally recommend a treatment plan of between 4-6 one-hour sessions, spread over 6-10 weeks. This allows us the necessary time to utilise multiple approaches to help improve your sleep. Although some people do experience instantaneous resolution, it is more common to make incremental progress as you learn new strategies, and your brain starts to create new neural pathways. Additionally, at least one of these sessions will focus on teaching self-hypnosis, to empower you with the skills you need to maintain your new processes (and overcome any other problems you might face) independently. It can also be beneficial to have an audio recording to help you fall asleep, and if requested/required, this can be provided at no extra charge.
