Habit Adjustment

We are creatures of habit. Many of the things we do every day – from how we eat, work, respond to stress, or wind down at night – run on autopilot. Hypnotherapy helps you step off that autopilot and take back control, creating space for the habits you actually want in your life.

Whether you’re trying to stop biting your nails, cut back on alcohol, scroll less, procrastinate less, or finally build that daily exercise routine, change is possible – and it starts in the mind.

Why Are Habits So Hard to Change?

Habits are learned patterns stored in your unconscious mind. Even when you consciously want to change, that deeper programming can pull you back into familiar routines—especially during stress, boredom, or fatigue. That’s where hypnotherapy comes in.

How Hypnotherapy Helps You Shift Habits

Hypnotherapy works by accessing the unconscious mind—the part of you that drives behaviour automatically. In this calm, focused state, we can:

  • Unpack the triggers behind your unwanted habit
  • Reframe the beliefs or emotions keeping it in place
  • Build new, healthier behaviours that feel natural and sustainable
  • Strengthen motivation and follow-through
  • Create a sense of ease and confidence around change

This isn’t about forcing yourself to stop a behaviour through willpower. It’s about changing the script that runs in the background.

Examples of Habits Hypnotherapy Can Help With
  • Nail biting, hair pulling
  • Excessive phone or screen use
  • Alcohol moderation
  • Smoking or vaping
  • Late-night snacking
  • Procrastination
  • Overthinking or mental rumination
  • And many more

If a behaviour feels automatic, frustrating, or like it’s “just part of who you are” – hypnotherapy may be the key to shifting it.

Personalised, Practical, and Empowering

At Chameleon Hypnosis, I combine clinical hypnotherapy with psychotherapy, counselling, and cognitive behavioural strategies to support deep, lasting change. Every session is tailored to you – not just your habit, but the life you want to live.

How long does it take?

I normally recommend a treatment plan of between 4-6 one-hour sessions, spread over 6-10 weeks. This allows us the necessary time to utilise multiple approaches to help manage your habit. Although some people do experience instantaneous resolution, it is more common to make incremental progress as you learn new strategies, and your brain starts to create new neural pathways. Additionally, at least one of these sessions will focus on teaching self-hypnosis, to empower you with the skills you need to maintain your new processes (and overcome any other problems you might face) on your own.

Online or In-Person Sessions

Appointments are available via Zoom across Australia, or in-person in South Australia at Integrative Health Solutions in Belair.
