One of my main interests in clinical hypnosis is helping people to better manage their pain – especially their chronic pain. But to do that it’s important to first understand a little more about what pain is and how it works. To that end I’ve produced the video below.
Hypnotherapy can be a valuable tool for helping to manage chronic pain. Roughly 30% of people with chronic pain who utilise hypnosis report significant pain relief. Whilst it would be great if that number could be much higher, it’s still very significant. And participants who fell outside that 30% didn’t feel their time was wasted. Rather, they were able to report combinations of other benefits; short term relief, better management and coping strategies and an overall increase in quality of life.
Pain is always going to be a complicated issue, and there is no one size fits all solution for everybody. But the potential benefit of hypnosis is significant and should not be overlooked.
